Il y aura deux semaines ce soir, j’atterissais dans cet endroit inconnu qu’était la capitale de l’état du Yucatán… Et si Mérida est agréable et sympatique au premier abord, elle se révèlera vite un peu plus que cela.
La ville, construite par l’espagnol Montejo sur les ruines d’une cité Maya transpire ces origines mélées. Des constructions très hispaniques aux vestiges furtifs, ça et là, des ancêtres adorateurs de Chaac et de Quetzalcoatl, l’endroit est un petit bijou.
2 weeks ago tonight, I was landing in a completely unknown place: the capital of the state of Yucatán… And if Mérida seems just nice and welcoming at first, it is actually way more than that once you walk its streets.
The city, built by the spanish Montejo over the Mayan ruins, is showing off its mixed origins. From the very post-columbian buildings to the subtle signs, here and there, of attachment to the population ancestors who worshipped Chaac and Quetzalcoatl, the place is simply bewitching.
